The residents of Geauga County elected Joe Cattell, PE, PS as the County Engineer in November of 2012, and took office in January 2013. Joe was re-elected as the County Engineer in 2016 and 2020.

Becoming an Engineer
Joe Cattell grew up in Eastlake, Ohio. During his school years, Joe excelled in the math and science subjects. He decided to become a civil engineer because of his expertise in the math and science subjects, as well as the passion he had for building things. In 1993, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cleveland State University. Joe returned to college in 1995 to earn his surveying credentials. In 1999, Joe became a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Ohio. In 2002, he became a registered Professional Surveyor (PS) in the state of Ohio.
Joe has one daughter and two sons. He is extremely proud of his kids and their accomplishments.
Most recently, Joe became a grandfather. Spending time with his grandson is his newest passion.
