Project Updates

See below the most recent project updates relating to the drainage improvements of Aquilla Road

June 15, 2020 – Construction has concluded on Aquilla Road in Claridon Township. With the conclusion of the resurfacing project, the road now features an improved asphalt surface, which allows for smoother and safer travel. Additionally, earlier culvert replacements improved drainage in proximity to the road. In line with the Geauga County Engineer’s mission, safety for the traveling public has been improved.

6-10-2020 – Crews on Aquilla Road are laying the surface layer of asphalt on the road as part of the resurfacing project. This final layer provides a smoother surface with better rideability. As a reminder, traffic is being maintained, so use caution in the area!

5-27-2020 – Resurfacing work is continuing on Aquilla Road between US 322 and the City of Chardon Corporation limit. Crews are laying the intermediate layer of asphalt, which will serve as a sturdy foundation for the surface layer that will be placed in the coming days. As a reminder, the road is open, but traffic is being maintained.

5-21-2020 – Crews are beginning work on the asphalt resurfacing of Aquilla Road in Claridon Township between US 322 and the City of Chardon Corporation limit. Milling is currently taking place, which will give way to resurfacing in the coming days. As a reminder, the road is open, but traffic is being maintained, so use caution in the area.

4-20-2020 – The drainage improvement work on Aquilla Road in Claridon township has concluded. Under the supervision of the Geauga County Engineer’s team, crews replaced two culverts on the section of road between US 322 and Claridon Road. These improvements are part of a larger resurfacing project on the road due to begin later in 2020. The road is now open.

4-14-2020 – Drainage improvements are underway on Aquilla Road in Claridon Township, between State Route 322 and the City of Chardon corporation limit. The ongoing culvert replacements are in preparation of the resurfacing of the road, which is scheduled for later this year. As a reminder, the road is closed and a detour route is posted.
